Online Homebuyer Education Course

Melissa Landauer

Portland Housing Center now offers an online homebuyer education course for first time homebuyers who are unable to attend our in-person workshops due to mobility challenges or scheduling conflicts. The online home buyer education course is offered through a partnership between Portland Housing Center and the “ eHome America” platform. The class is based on the Realizing the American Dream curriculum, which is the same as our in-person workshop, however, the online material does not include the local information we include in our in-person workshops. The course is available in English and Spanish. In order to receive a certificate of completion, you will also complete a minimum of one hour of individualized housing counseling with a Portland Housing Center HomeBuying Specialist; the counseling session can be in person or over the telephone. Those interested in the online course must first register for Portland Housing Center services and pay the $65 registration fee. The staff will then assist you with instruction for registration for the online course.

Please note that there will be an additional $12 administrative fee paid to eHome America at the time of registration for the online course. While eHome is an approved form of 8 hour Homebuyer Education for USDA Rural Housing loans you may want to check with your lender to determine if it is an acceptable form of education for you loan program.
